Q: 6 months ago I paid ~£3 for this on Amazon.... Why the extortionate increase?

Sorry I have no idea, I can only say they are great plugs and I have several double as well as a single and they get used.

Q: Will this fit a standard 25mm box

A 25mm box is usually for light fittings so I would suggest you use a 35mm box as used for power points on a ring main

Q: Does this or does this not come with a 25mm back box? The information is Conficting.

Just the socket comes and you have to purchase/provide your own backbox.

Replacement socket

Bought for replacement for hardwired heater to a plug in rad. Added bonus of usb sockets. Not fitted yet so can't comment on functionality.

Excellent!

Sturdy sockets fit backplate perfectly. I was replacing old sockets on a total refurbishment and decided to upgrade to these fast charging USB sockets. All work really well. Would highly recommend.

Couldn't find a a double USB in stock at the big DiY retailer, I visited so purchased this, great value and super easy to install with robust terminals. Some cheaper USB sockets available elsewhere on line are much too deep and can foul the steel patterns, this one is shallow so no problem. Looks nice too.

Decent value and it seems to work well

Bought this to replace a fused connection unit for our bathroom shower controller which was installed in an adjacent airing cupboard. A fused connection point for this application made absolutely no sense to me (we seem to have a lot of FCUs in the UK... I never see them anywhere else in the world - I'm sure a qualified electrician will put me right as to why) as the shower controller needs disconnecting for periodic servicing... so I just swapped it out for this and stuck a 3-pin plug on the shower controller... which makes it much easier to uninstall, plus I get a couple of USB charge / power points. Looks okay enough (bothered...? It's in a cupboard) and was easy to install. Was decent value and it seems to work well. Can't fault it, so... recommended.
