No, you can pair it with a phillips hue light using the bt app.

you can set up to 5 button presses, (its done by quick consecutive presses of the 'on' button) each one doing a different scene, each scene can have as many lights as you want. In your situation, you can have , "Press no. 1" as both lights on at 100%, "Press no. 2" as both lights at 50%, "Press no. 3" as one light on and one off, "Press no. 4" the other light on and other off. if you have coloured lights, they can be set to different colours on each press.

If you check the spec, the maximum number of bulbs per hue switch is 10 so 6 is fine. You do need to get the "blue tooth" bulbs or a hub. A hub will let you control non-blue tooth bulbs or more than 10.

It works alongside, it saves you having to get your phone out and open the app. You can pre-set 4 or 5 different scenes and just use this switch to turn the lights on. You can also assign it to more than 1 hue fitting if you have more in a room to turn them all on at once.
