First 3 games immediately after purchase (234, 256, & 228) 718 series @ 239 average!
I'm 37 years old and have been bowling in leagues since I was about 6 years old. (30 years of experience) After taking a long break away from bowling (roughly 10 years) I decided to finally get back into a league. My average when I was bowling all the time was 200+ in multiple leagues. This was about 10 years ago though in my mid 20s prior to my extended break from bowling. I ended up buying this ball as well as the Axiom Pearl as well as a Parallax Effect. On the first night of league last Sunday I realized after we got there that I had left my new Parallax Effect (my tank ball) at home in a different bowling bag. Because of that I only had my Axiom Pearl and my Pitch Black with me that night. During practice I quickly realized that my brand new Axiom Pearl wasn't going to work out because the thumb hole is way too tight. It started to rip my skin off after only a few throws in practice. I immediately felt doomed! You mean I have to bowl all 3 games tonight using this cheap urethane? To my surprise I threw a 718 series @ 239 average on the night! I grew up throwing urethane balls. In the early 90s we didn't have reactive resin. But this is also the first urethane ball I've owned since I was probably 11 years old. So the fact I still dominated the lanes using only this ball all night really shocked me. 5 stars.. I LOVE IT! In fact.. it was so good on our typical house shot that it may end up being the first ball out of my bag! It also doubles as a very good spare ball as well since the hook is much more controllable than it would be with a reactive resin ball. Thank you Storm! Your products are the best! Hoping one day I can get sponsored.

Best Ball I’ve Thrown So Far
I decided to buy this because I needed a urethane ball to use as my opener ball on short patterns. I’ve thrown three different reactive balls, but none of them came close to how the Pitch Black feels. This ball is very easy to control compared to reactive balls, and it carries through well for strikes. It is also a great spare ball and can even get the 10 pin (beware it does hook a bit when far down the lane). It’s even great for converting splits, as I have personally converted more splits using this ball than my Storm Ice spare ball. Get this ball no matter what. There’s a reason why professional bowlers have been using this for years now, with some using this for both strikes and spares.

I like it.
I had the popular purple hammer urethane for a while at 16 lbs and I bowled well with it. I'm getting into my Senior years and by game 3, my arm was ready to fall off. It also appeareded to have durability issues, as it developed several chips. So I dropped to a 14 lb reactive and had trouble controlling it. The thinking was that my speed was going to increase, so I would need the reaction. The reactive ball also picked up and retained dirt, which changed the way it reacted over time. Therefore, I had to keep cleaning the ball. So I read some reviews on the Pitch Black and decided to give it a try. I'm certainly pleased with the ball, although I'm still getting used to it, especailly for spares. With less weight and less grip at 14 lbs, its getting down the lane faster than the hammer did. As a reseult, I have to relax my force a bit and increase the revs. It's gradually getting better and will be a keeper.

Pitch Black is a must have for all styles of bowler.
The media could not be loaded. I read a lot of things about urethane balls before eventually picking up the Pitch Black. I heard it was great for short patterns but not much else. Bottom line after drilling one of my own: this thing is vastly underestimated.I’ve been shooting at splits, easy 1 or 2 pin spares, & using it for a strike ball. I’m convinced there is nothing this ball won’t do. Sends messengers, rolls through for 10-back strikes, and is such a trustworthy piece for spares that may be trickier to pick up with plastic. It has a smooth and predictable shape with continuous roll & reminded me of one of my first bowling balls I had ever drilled (also urethane).I’ve seen the pro’s on tour use it, tons of other bowlers at the lanes, 2-handers, 1-handers, crankers, tweeners, strikers, etc. If you’re on the fence, don’t be. Get this ball. There’s a reason it’s so popular.

First ball!
Always bowled with house ball and averaged around 140. First time bowling with the pitch perfect was bowling over 200 every game! Very impressed with this ball!
