No more choking on tablets!
Just put 1/2 tablespoon powder in water twice a day. No bad taste. Keep swirling as powder settles. I trust NOW Foods products to be of high quality.I will buy this regularly.

Great alternative to large pills
It's a great way to get extra calcium citrate. I just throw it into my large coffee with cream and it dissolves pretty well and doesn't affect the taste negatively. There can be some chalky residue during the last few sips if I don't swirl the coffee throughout while drinking but that doesn't bother me. You can also put in less than the specified dosage if you don't need all 600mg or want to space it out in different drinks throughout the day.

truly highly bioavailable
Powdered calcium citrate is expensive. This is the cheapest calcium citrate powder I could find. It dissolves easily in water and has little taste, except mildly chalky. I used to mix it in applesauce, but the easiest way to take it quickly is to put your dose in a shot glass, fill with water, stir, and sip quickly through a straw. Refill a second time to get the remainder. In applesauce it gets thick and chewy and is harder to get down.Now. Bioavailability. Research shows that calcium citrate is more absorbable than calcium carbonate or any other oral form. It is easier on your stomach and does not need to be taken with food. I’ve struggled to get me calcium levels above 7 since I’ve been pregnant. Since starting this and upping my dose to twice daily, my calcium is finally around 9. The recommended dose is a teaspoon and a half—I have a half tablespoon measuring spoon and use a heaping spoonful for each dose, twice a day. I take in between meals since I have to take a K-Phos supplement with each meal, and phos will mess with calcium absorption (and vice versa).Calcium citrate powder is less user friendly than a simple pill, but for maximum absorption it can’t be beat. Highly recommend. (I am reviewing this under my husband’s name).

Dissolves well in room-temperature liquids. Increased my serum calcium quickly.
After parathyroid surgery, the doctor prescribed calcium carbonate. I told her that calcium carbonate hurts my stomach, but she encouraged me to take it anyway! I refused and used this Now Calcium Citrate powder instead. I've had four lab tests since being discharged from the hospital and each time the results showed my serum calcium to be either at or above goal. This citrate powder works.I mix it with room-temperature water. It's not the best texture (chalky), but for me it's preferable to swallowing large capsules or tablets that have unnecessary ingredients. My only complaint is the shape of the container. It's impossible to reach the lower part of the container with a measuring spoon. The bottle is too tall and narrow. I have to tranfer the powder to a wide-mouth jar.

So much better than pills
I already take two other forms of calcium and I wanted to get a well rounded calcium intake from different sources. I need a ton of calcium due to a med that causes bone loss over the years. This product is virtually tasteless when mixed in a protein shake. I'm sure it would probably be the same when mixed in a glass of juice. A little chalky..? Yeah, but it's calcium and they are all a little chalky. This one is not bad at all in that respect. I think it is due to how fine the powder is. Pretty much the consistency of talcum powder. I do mix it into my shake container in/over the sink, not on the counter for less mess. I also add other stuff to the shake so there is always a bit of fallout. This is a great option for those of us who hate taking pills.

Used to purchase this a lot
At one point I would have given this Ca++ citrate five stars. I used it for several years and reordered it frequently. But my bones just didn't seem to be holding on to the calcium and I was battling osteoporosis. Unable to take medication to help the problem due to immune-mediated issues, I tried another brand and formulation of Ca++ citrate 6 weeks ago and I feel noticably stronger. So...this is hardly a controlled study; rather it is one person's experience and one person's interpretation. Give this product a try and see how you feel. Try another brand if you'd rather.
