Different Shades of Joe... But Still Incredible!
I've said for years; there is nobody the "reinterprets" their own songs better, than Joe Bonamassa. While that has nothing to do with this album, it merely demonstrates how amazing this guy is. This record is an extremely powerful example of what he can do when he fronts a big band. We all know how incredible he is in his normal guitar, bass, keys, drums 4-piece set-up... this ain't that. This is not "over-produced" as the few that don't like it state. It's produced perfectly, for what Joe has chosen to do here. Maybe this Joe ain't your cup o' tea, but you can't say it's not a great album top to bottom! There is really no style of music this guy can't play, and play well! One thing you can say about Joe, is that he always surrounds himself with amazing musicians, whether it's BCC, Beth Hart, Jimmy Barnes or any number of other players. And it usually starts with Anton Fig, Reese Wynans and Micheal Rhodes.. who replace Carmine Rojas! Come on! Incredible players, one and all! And this record just adds to the list. This album just plain rocks!

Joe is growing into a great song writer
It took a few listens to really appreciate what Joe did here. It starts with a drum roll from another drummer but quickly moves into Joe’s own sound and continues from there. The song writing is right from what joe is going thru with tasty guitar and backup vocals from some of his recent backup musicians. I like how he’s written his own material with music and playing that gives tribute to some of his favorite blues players, ie BB King. A good solid piece of music for me, production is great also. Looking forward to the new one. I’ve listenedTo quite a lot of his live CDs and dvds, my favorites: Live at the Greek and Live at Carnegie Hall. Hard to miss with Joe.

Redemption is Amazing.
When Evil Mama blasted through my speakers, the hair on my neck stood up and every cell in my body had to dance. Followed by King Bee, well let's just say my house was rockin'. Mr. Bonamassa says he was heavily influenced by the blues musicians in England, like Eric Claption, but Redemption definitely has some Mississippi mud in it. There are so many great songs on this album, but Stronger Now In Broken Places is my song. I can't hear that one without crying. I love, love, love, this album.

Great Songs, Not So Great CD
All of the songs are great and I really enjoy the album. I docked it a star for the CD. The plastic prongs that hold the CD in place were all broken. When I opened the CD in Windows to make WMA lossless files (half the space of MP3s), none of the album or song information appeared. I had to manually enter all the information before ripping the CD.

A Perfect Blues Cocktail
Unbelievably awesome is this cd! Been a fan of Joe Bonamassa for awhile now and was blown away by this latest cd Redemption. It is the quintessential blues cocktail. It has everything! Slow grinding blues, funky blues, and tripping blues. Some stand outs are Molly O, Deep In the Blues Again, and of course Self Inflicted Wounds. What really grabs me are the solos. Joe shreds and pays homage to the legendary greats. My favorite song is I've Got Some Mind Over What Matters. Joe is singing with us - not at us. We've all been down and Joe celebrates the highs and lows of life with us. Just when you are settled into this cd, Joe takes us on an unexpected journey with The Ghost of Macon Jones. Wow, another great song!I could listen to the slow pounding blues of Joe Bonamassa all day, but happy to ride with the upbeat King Bee Shakedown too. Great album. It's a little bit of everything rolled into a perfectly mixed drink. Enjoy!

Great Addition
If you like Joe, you will love this new studio CD. Some outstanding guitar work, instrumentals horns and vocals. The music is full as he added a couple of other guitarist to the mix. Joe needs no help with the guitar, but he's able to really cook out the tunes while having a little back up guitar to fill it all in. This is one of his best studio recording to date. Joe's voice is mature and full. If you don't like Joe, you probably are not reading this review and you really need to start acquiring a taste for the best blues rocker alive today. Hes amazing live and he's amazing in the studio. He's obviously working through some "stuff" which gives meaning to his own Blues! This one is best served at full volume.

The defintion of American Blues
When I consider a blues musician, I consider several talents. Is the artist an virtuoso instrumentalist? Does the musician sing with haunting feeling? Can the artist compose music that expresses the pain and redemption of life?Joe can do all three. In my view, this is a composite musician.Take King Bee Shakedown. This tune has a driving bass line. Great utilization of talent back-up vocals. The pain is evident in “Self-Infected Wounds.” There is a sound behind the chords that I have yet to identify. The guitar in “I’ve got Some Mind Over What Matters, “calls out the pain of self-examination.If the reader wishes to experience passionate electric blues, this recording is recommended. If your taste desires a further portion, go by the Greek Theater release.

Another Knockout From Bonamassa
It's impossible to name a Bonamassa "best" album. Why? Because they're all so different. He explores all kinds of new sonic, melodic, and harmonic ideas album after album while remaining firmly rooted in his Blues beginnings. More often than not, I don't think I'm listening to him play, I'm going exploring with him. This is another one of those meditations. It's different than his previous work (duh), but it's richly textured, accessible, and above all else, supremely musical.Oh, by the way, there are places on this album where I think he may be channeling Led Zepplin ... and I mean that in a good way...

Fantastic
Joe's work is good at anytime but I was stunned by this album and believe it is some of his best if not the best work to date. He just gets better and better. Normally I find his singing is not a particularly strong point but not in this album. His singing is very very good and also blends well with the backup singers. If you are a newbie, buy this album.

Studio-Produktion einzigartig!
