Ignore the transphobes.
This is THE book for the most evidence-based information on breastfeeding, and pretty much the only book you need on that subject. And remember, excluding others from something does not include you more. And including others doesn’t exclude you. If people in these comments truly knew how important & sacred breastfeeding is, they wouldn’t deprive anyone from doing it just because of who they are. Peace.

The OG of breastfeeding books
The book is well laid out and informative, and also has heart. La Leche League's mission is to provide lay support to breastfeeding pairs, and this book has all the science you need plus some great heartfelt stories.

Too much “extra” content to be valuable
The book is so full of reader quotes and stories that I found it too cluttered to read the actual author content. It’s like reading a blogger’s recipe full of ads. It’s fine to include those stories, but I wish they would have been grouped together at the beginning or end of each chapter so that you could more easily read or skip if you like. I should’ve taken photos before returning my copy, but the format was essentially a reader anecdote every other paragraph. I read about 40% of the book before giving up. I recommend you browse a copy of the book at a local store to see if you like the writing style before purchasing.Note: The authors address the terminology they chose to use in the Introduction, so start there if you want to see their take on why they word things the way they do in the book.I’m finding the book, “Breastfeeding Made Simple” to be much more valuable.

Extremely helpful, totally reliable, highly recommendable
I had read earlier editions. I love this new edition with updated information, clear explanations, personal stories from all over the world, informative tables that summarize the main points, practical informative illustrations. I love that it covers from pregnancy to weaning, and special cases and difficulties. I love the friendly, inclusive tone, and culturally sensitive approach.I definitely recommend it. A must read.

Philosophy, without critical breastfeeding help
Helping new parents since 1993, the most critical fix I give new babies is how to deeply latch with a wide open mouth. There's not a single latch photo. Assuming baby will do well with patience is unhelpful.La Leche League philosophy is still beautiful and effective. Responding and listening to our children is everything. That builds trust, security, and independence. Well-rounded nutrition, and discipline that understands a child is always a healthy foundation.

Really, La Leche?
Disappointed that La Leche has taken an art and experience so sacred to mothers and diluted it for the sake of being politically correct. This isn’t equality; this is striping mothers and women of their very unique and sacred experience. Write and publish a separate book on “chest feeding” if you want to address that specifically. Please don’t lump a mother’s biological breastfeeding experience with that of a trans or even man’s experience. It’s just not the same, and we would all be absolute fools and insensitive to assume it is. I think both sides of the discussion would agree on that.
