Low tech but reliable. The magnet is pulled by the door opening then the magnet is released and it strikes the chime which can be heard by everyone. No wires, no batteries, no delay like some electronic chimes and is adjustable

This was the second doorbell. The first one lasted two days this one has lasted a month. The product trouble shooting website is not working. Return window has passed. It worked well while it worked. Cheap weld on the magnet.

Works great but, is much larger than I expected. Nevertheless, I'm happy with it. I use it on an interior bedroom door so I'm alerted when my 85-year-old mother tries to wander around at night. This door bell is a simple concept. It doesn't require electricity and is made out of just mechanical parts (using strong magnets to pull a spring loaded chime whenever it is separated from the magnet). Easy to install and the plastic seems to be of a strong sturdy material. Make sure when you install it, you get as close of a fit as possible to the magnet. The better the connection of the magnet and the metal washer, the better the "ding" sound will be. It's also fairly large (depending on what kind of door chimes you're used to, I'm comparing it to those battery powered small magnet door chimes that go off when the magnet is disrupted). If you use this at home, it's going to look pretty ugly and obvious hanging up above the door.In terms of loudness, if you're in a retail store environment, it may be too quiet. If you're using this at home, then it should be sufficient as long as you're not upstairs in another room. I do have a concern on how long the magnet will be effective though. After multiple uses, it is possible that the magnet will lose some of its strength and the "dings" will be much softer. Also, if someone very slowly opens the door, the magnet may not release fast enough to make a noise (just be aware that it is possible to sneak past the ding if someone really wants to).Overall though, it's a pretty clever device that won't require you to have to change batteries. It makes a pleasant enough ding and will alert you to who's coming in. Hopefully it lasts a while.Disclaimer: I received a discount on this item in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Great stuff

This is the second one that I purchased. The first worked fine, until the rod that is attached to the magnet broke, after a few months of use. Since I had the unit already installed, I decided to purchase a second one, just so I could have a working magnet. If this one breaks also after a few months, then I will have no choice but to purchase a completely different chime system.

Broke before we even finished installing it. :(
