I use this product as a baren for printmaking. Works great! Smooth and flat on the bottom, glides nicely over the paper.

The most important part of something like this is the bottom. The bottom is nice and flat, but it does look unfinished. There's still a roughness to it from being sanded. It should still work find, but I've never seen another muller with a rougher bottom. The glass ball on top makes it easy for it to sit in the palm of your hand while you're grinding.

It worked fine enough. It came with several scratches. Had no choice but to use it so I can’t send it back.

Unsure if it was used or just not quite pristine, but I have pigmented to mix. I was expecting it to be unfrosted and smooth.
