I have it hooked to my marine deep cycle 4D batteries on my boat to keep them up while it sits on the mooring. It does a fine job keeping them up when I’m not using the boat frequently. I’m not sure how long it would take to charge a battery from low if you were to run it as the only source for charging.

Q: If I need to extend the wire from the solar panel to the controller can I just extend the wire with 16 gauge to add 25 ft or so?

Go to Harbor freight and grab a Solar accessories box. Has different connections in it for sae connections including a 20ft extension.

Q: Want to charge truck battery over winter with a 400w inverter to power two plug in mouse sonic deterrents. Will this 50W work for this?

Depends on the draw from the mouse deterrents, I assume not much, is there any draw on the battery your trying to maintain? It all makes a difference on what the panel size should be. I have mine charging a standard 12v car battery to run a set of 25 LED Christmas lights. If we have full sun days it will recharge the battery but anything less than full sun and the battery won’t get recharged during the day and the lights go out couple hours after dark. Using a 50w inverter and a small 12v timer to turn the inverter on and off at dusk and dawn.
