If you're looking for a 1U cooler, try this one out

I wasn't sure about the Dynatron cooler, thinking it would be too loud or low quality, I wanted to try out some other options. What I found was that for 1U form factor, this just works much better, I'm assuming the horizontal blower fan is what makes all the difference - there are other low-profile coolers out there that just blow the air up, but in a 1U case it has nowhere to go.What I've found is that this keeps the CPU so much cooler that fan speed doesn't need to be all that high, so it is pretty quiet.Idle temps are about 20 degrees lower than they were with Thermaltake Engine 27 1U cooler (the metal fan one) and load temps are 30 degrees cooler. This is with a Ryzen 7 3700x with Eco mode + CPU boost disabled - please keep in mind this is NOT for an AM4 socket - the motherboard I'm using has an LGA-1151 mount but AM4 cpu socket (ASRock Rack X570D4I-2T)

Good for what I got it for

Purchased this for a 1U server I built in an iStar case. The only blower-style fan that will fit in the case. The fan works at keeping the i7-7700 (non-k) temps down, but I do feel that it's pricey for what you get. Regardless, it works, but I did deduct 1 star because it is quite loud if you're anywhere near it. Being that it's inside a server rack in a server room, it's no bother. If you're within say 15 feet of it, you will get annoyed with the noise.

Great CPU Cooler for a 1U System

Great CPU fan, durable and quiet, and works great in a 1U case. I would buy again and again for future 1U system builds.Just remember when deciding if this is right for your use case that the TDW listed by Intel is an average, not a peak. My CPU has a TDW of 65W whilst this cooler is advertised by the manufacturer of managing up to 125W; however my CPU can peak much higher than 125W, which means that the cooler couldn’t keep up under extreme load (running a prime95 torture test). As my goals are low noise and low power in a 1U form-factor, I happily throttled the CPU’s boost speeds to keep the power use and heat down within my systems overall ability to expel heat.

Perfect solution to silence a 1U server

I recently got a Supermicro 1U server with a Xeon CPU (71W TDP). It came with a heatsink for the CPU and two Supermicro 0154L4 system fans. Because it needed enough airflow through the heatsink, 0154L4 fans were crazy noisy (61dBA). It was unbearable for a home lab.So, I got this CPU cooler instead along with two Supermicro 0100L4 system fans to replace the heatsink and the 0154L4 fans. And this worked perfectly! The Xeon runs cool enough in a 1U chassis at perfectly acceptable noise levels.

Used...

Thermal paste on the heatsink had been at the very least placed on a CPU before it was sent to me. Too expensive for a used heatsink.

This is a very very nice fan

This is an excellent fan. I needed a 1U form factor, and this fit in very well. The only problem I had was there are required mounting brackets which must be installed on the bottom (obverse) side of the motherboard for the fan to screw into. Thus you need to install the CPU and fan prior to mounting your motherboard, or need a case where there is a cut out for CPU fan brackets. This keeps my I7 3770K running at great temps and with virtually no noise. This will work with LGA1156 OR LGA1155 socket motherboards. Fortunately LGA1155 (the newer socket IIRC) is fan compatible with the older LGA1156 standard.

High quality, mediocre performance

While the fan and heatsink build quality is really nice, it didn't perform as well as my passive CPU cooler in my 1U super micro case. The case itself has two fans in the front, and with the passive CPU cooler my server runs about 3-4c cooler. Perhaps this cooler would work better in a case with more air volume.

Does the job

Super low mounting, but still clears nearby capacitors. Installed on a mini pc that i'm building. It's lower than the ram and rear motherboard connectors. Fits fine with the 1150 sockets. Installed on an i5-4570t processor. Using a CPU stress tester on ubuntu, it reached a max temp of 65°C. The fan can get loud, but still not bad considering its size. I'd say it's about as loud as an old RPM Hard drive that i had installed on this machine, so really not bad.I was expecting cooler temps since on their website it can handle CPU's up to 95 watts. That's hard to believe since my 35 watt processor was heating up quite a bit. and i purchased some high-end thermal paste (Tuniq TX-4) in hopes to lower temps more.
