Q: Mine only worked for a month. Now neither will come on at all. What’s up with that?

They may require that you unscrew the solar panel to change the batteries. Most of these need a AA battery to work.

Very disappointing. Worked for 2 week only..

Q: Will the multi colored lights work as plant growing lights in a darkish room?

I wouldn't think they would give off near enough energy, nor the red and blue waves you need. A standard light bulb, 100 watt incandescent, if you can find one, and a neon light together will work in a pinch. Put them next to the plant.
