Nice kettle, good size, easy to clean
I bought this kettle to reduce clutter on the worktops, and I like the look of a traditional kettle standing in the hob.It looks just as it does in the listing. It is a cream colour and it is designed to go to a darker shade at the bottom. I imagine this will help to conceal any burn marks as it ages.It is obviously heavier than lesser kettles but, due to the size, it isn’t problematic to lift when filled. The lid comes off and on easily. The whistle is fine. The handle can be moved to one side when filling, if desired. However, it doesn’t move to the side on a whim and stays in position unless you deliberately move it. The handle doesn’t get hot after boiling and there is no need to use a teatowel to lift off the stove afterwards. It is a sturdy kettle and I can recommend. If you are new to stove kettles, they do take longer to boil than electric ones. However, I use this time to give the floor a quick sweep and it helps me feel productive (and I now have a very clean floor! 😊).I was worried about cleaning marks off without scratching the coating. I use a damp scourer (the kind that’s on one side of the sponge pad in the photo) and softly wipe. This removed all marks without causing damage.I can recommend.

Le cruset Stove top whistling kettle 1.6l
As a long time lover of stove top whistling kettles, I can safely say, I have bought my last kettle. The beautiful build quality and workmanship means I am anticipating this kettle to last at least 20 years plus despite only having a 5 year gaurentee. The handle stays cool and is easy to use. Although the handle is rivetted on - it is solid and my husband assures me the rivets are strong and secure but easily replacable should I break them (He is very handy though) I like that I can fill from the lid or the spout but you have to take some care when filling at the spout as it can gush back if the water flow is forceful. It is reassuring heavy but not too heavy that my weak wrists and poorly hands struggle. It is surpirisingly quick to heat water and I think that is due to its clever wide base. This wide base also means the fill level is below the spout so you don't get and splashes or spitting whilst it is boiling or tipping. Finally, I love the whistle - it is loud and insistent making it impossible to ignore or forget. Do I wish I had bought it in the volcanic orange - absolutely - it would have matched all my Le cruset pots but I was worried about chipping the enamel over time and thought that the mirror finish will still look good in 20 years time evn if it dulls & scratches or stains. Thanx Le cruset for a lovely kettle.

Excellent quality
This kettle has class, as expected from Le Creuset, and part of that is weight, also expected. The lid fits the body so well that it's a bit of a struggle to remove it (but I'm over 70). However, the maximum fill mark is on the outside, so it's pretty difficult to be sure of the maximum level. I get round that, and the tight lid, by measuring water from the tap and pouring it into the spout to fill. When pouring out, the last few drops sputter out backwards onto the counter. I use it on my gas hob, which means silence until the whistle sounds, preferable to the noise generated by an electric kettle

Le Creuset Kone Stovetop Kettle in Black
I absolutely love these kettles but this is now my third addition in 15 years. The only reason for ordering three is due to my partner boiling two of them dry 😡😂 The simple action of him not clicking the whistle into position consequently damaged the inside base when there was no longer any boiling water left. This is obviously not any fault to the manufacturer… I’m hoping he’s finally learnt his lesson! The reason I like these kettles is that they are beautiful to look at, great colour range, easy to pour, maintain their shiny enamel finish, boil quickly due to the wide base and they’re robust. They may be more expensive than other brands but they are definitely worth it 💯% 🥰

Excellent Kettle - No problems at all!
We've had none of the problems the other reviews have stated. The whistle works perfectly, in fact it can become very loud if let to whistle for a bit too long. The water pours perfectly out of it with no spitting of boiling water. The people that mention that the handle gets hot, to me it sounds like they have not put the lid on properly which can be a little stiff at times. Its never been a problem for us, both the handle being hot or problems with the lid being stiff...all it does it make sure its secure which I'd personally sacrifice a little stiffness for. As for someone stating it takes longer than a electric kettle, well of course it will what else would you expect? We bought this because we love Le Creuset products. They are known for high quality stylish wear that lasts a long time, which is exactly what this is. It does exactly what you want it to do to and I have no doubt it will last us for a long time. We used to have an electric kettle, a very expensive one actually that was bought as a wedding gift. We found even that one didn't last long and soon started to look warn. This kettle not only cost less but is still looking as good as the day we bought it. We have a lot of confidence that it will last much longer than the last kettle. We actually prefer using a kettle on the hob, there are benefits to it not being electric for example not taking up valuable work top space and electric plugs.Highly recommended, excellent product from Le Creuset!

Waste of money
Poor quality. DO NOT WATE YOUR MONEY. Followed user directions for induction hob (never on P setting) but the coating chipped off within the first week of use. Amazon replaced it within 2 days. Coating of 2nd kettle started blistering and chipping off after 3 months. Not able to return via Amazon because it has been more than 30 days, so will have to try my luck with getting money back from LeCreuset! Very dissatisfied as I thought spending more and paying for a reputable brand would be worth it.
