the whoosh is louder than the motor
Bought the vu5840 version (oldest model) which has 4 speeds inc of sleep mode from Amazon warehouse for £44.19. Unfortunately the 1st delivery the fan blade was damaged (1 of the 5 blades was broken but still in the box). Also the motor hummed and was obviously broken (someone has returned a fan they knocked over as the edges of the blafes were also a it rough to the touch and the tilt mechanism was wonky. Also lots of packaging missing).Ordered a 2nd fan, again from Amazon warehouse for £44.19 and this time it looked new (more packaging and smooth edged blades and no loud hum even without the blades attached). On the box it mentions 17 watts for sleep mode and 70 watts for max, so by my maths (70 ÷ 4 = 17) the wattage goes up in 17 increments.17w sleep34w 1st setting51w 2nd setting68w 3rd settingaproxPowerful fan as all my blinds are billowing even when the fan isn't pointed at them.Would have loved the newer 5 speed model but wanted a mechanical fan (turn dial only) as it has memory of last setting, so if used with a segment timer it will turn on on last setting after being switched off.Height adjustable worked well and although there is a hum it is the same hum on setting 1,2 or 3. The whoosh of the air is noisier than the hum. The hum isn't to bad and to be expected for any fan. This fan is probably the best fan on the market for wattage at 70w. Can guess that a cheaper alternative just wouldn't have the build quality (the fan cage is well made and sturdy and the base is heavy).I also have a dyson cool tower and that is noisier than this Rowenta fan, and wish I hadn't wasted £300 on the Dyson as this pushes out more air and is quiter. For the price I paid I am well happy.

Exceptional.
Exceptional purchase. Friends can't believe how quiet it is an how powerful it can be. I often forget it's on until I walk in front of me. So quiet it doesn't even disturb Zoom sessions either. Certainly keeping me cool during the heatwave. The RRP can seem quite high - its probably worth it compared to other fans with how strong and quiet it is. However, it's very often on offer at £50 and is an absolute bargain.

Stylish and powerful fan
The fan is in a matte white finish, for fans, it's a nice design and not too bulky. The speeds are powerful (wish a bit less noisy on the faster settings but less than other fans I've had). The silent mode function gives a slight breeze and is very quiet and great for sleeping. There is no remote control, I wish it had this feature. Overall though, stylish powerful fan and would recommend. I was lucky to buy it for less than I see it listed recently.

Impressive fan!
This fan looks great and performs well too. Very easy to assemble. Strong and sturdy base. Highest setting won't blow you away, but decent strength. Not really experienced a heat wave yet, so yet to be fully tested. The night mode is great, its a low setting, virtually silent and we keep it on most nights for light breazy ventilation. Very pleased with this product so far. Good, well made machine and well worth it!

Excellent quality, very quiet sleep mode
I bought this fan last year to replace an old Tefal one that had a quiet mode. Been very happy with it. Build quality is excellent. Quiet mode is perfect balance of volume of air movement v sound level. If you are reading this... just buy it.

Terrible quality, noisy and easily broken.
No remote control. No three pin UK plug, only one of those two pin ones, you’ll need an adapter. This is not good enough for a UK sold item (is it even legal?)Bought for £103.99, today it is £61.99.It is very large and quite heavy. I needed a stable one for a learning disabled person to use in their flat safely. Despite this, the fan was knocked over quite easily and several of the propellor blades shattered.A new propellor is £13.17 from Rowenta’s service agent, although out of stock so told it will be 4-6 weeks coming!I’m regretting ordering a new propellor now because the fan is rattly and very noisy (around 70db, not 38db as claimed. I wasn’t told this until after I’d ordered a new propellor, throwing good money after bad. Wish I’d just ordered a better fan in the first place although, at £103.99 I think I should have been entitled to expect this to be decent.

Quiet and efficient.
I am impressed! The Rowenta Turbo Silence Extreme+ met all of my expectations as it is quiet (especially in night mode) and provides good relief from hot and humid weather. It "blows" my previous fan out of the water.
