Are these pickups passive or active
Is it possible to hook a S-1 switch up to this? I don't thing it will be needed however it would be interesting to hook up two emgs to a series wiring
Does this include a solderlesss input jack? if not, does emg offer something like that that fits this set?
Will I still have to solder the bridge ground wire?

Take Your Tele To The Next Level

I had been thinking of upgrading my Tele pickups for a while. It came down to two options for me: this EMG T Set or a set of Seymour Duncan Tele Hot Rails. After watching a few vids on YouTube, I chose the EMG's. After playing with them for a few days now, here are my thoughts:The pros:-Solderless setup (I can solder well enough to install a passive pickup and get it to work but I'm not a professional by any means and I'm not confident enough in my soldering skills to wire a dual pickup setup)-The tone (I've played with it mainly using my cheap fuzz pedal and you can get a variety of tones from the classic clean "Tele twang" to some pretty sick stoner/doom metal tones when you run them through high-gain fuzz)-The selector switch (both clean and dirty, you get three distinctly different sounds from each of the three switch positions)The cons:-Battery-powered (I don't like having to change batteries but you know what you're getting into amd accept it when you choose active pickups)-Possible modifications to your guitar (I had to take a wood chisel and a hammer to carve put a cavity deep enough to fit the battery and I had some slight issues threading the neck pickup cable through the body; not EMG's fault since not every Tele (or custom Tele-style build) is the same; expect to possibly have to break out a few tools)All in all, I would recommend this set to anyone who would like to add some "oomph" to their Tele. You can get the classic Tele sounds but you can also get some pretty aggressive tones when you use distortion. I'm happy with this set.

Unbelievable

I love EMGs, I have them in all my guitars….these made my tele something else. You buy a tele for that twang sound, but bring a guy who lives to play hard rock and metal, the tele’s stock pickups weren’t the best option. These EMGs are the best of both worlds. I can absolutely get a twang sound clean, but now I have some real substance when I turn on my overdrive. I’d recommend to anyone wanting something just a touch different from their tele. Install was easy, and it dropped right into my body’s cavity (after I dremeled out a small area for the 9V to sit; but it was because my Mexi made tele wasn’t a completely open cavity under the pick guard; super simple if you have a hand rotary tool, and not every Tele needs that be completed for install; in fact, most don’t).

Little Modification

I purchased a DIY Tele kit and I'm replacing the OEM pickuups with the EMG T SYSTEM Prewired Telecaster Guitar Pickup Set Plus Control Plate. I've had to make 2 very small modifications to get the pickups to fit. The pick guard/nect pickup hole is 2mm smaller than the EMG pickup and I had to order a new bridge plate that accepted a 74mm pickup. I'm still working on the guitar finish so I can't show you a finished guitar, the image I've added is the pick guard. Would I buy the EMG T SYSTEM Prewired Telecaster Guitar Pickup Set Plus Control Plate again? Yes I've also purchased the EMG SA/SA/81 Active Strat Guitar Pickup Set, Black for a DIY strat.

Blew away my expectations

I mostly play guitar in an environment with a lot of electrical interference. Fed up with the noise, I finally broke down and decided to try active pickups. I was nervous I would dislike the sound of the active pickups and that the tone would be negatively impacted. After an extremely simple and easy install that took less than an hour, I plugged my Tele in and was blown away. Totally silent but the tone is all there and truly impressive. Recommend 100%. Oh, and this pickup system was way cheaper than my previous passive pickups.

I Love the Sound of These Pickups (installation was a bit of a challenge...)

I'm not much of an electrician, so I did some searching for a set of solderless replacement pickups for my Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster. I read a lot of reviews on the EMG-T pickups, and I decided that I would give them a try. I watched an installation video on YouTube, and the girl made it seem pretty easy, so I figured it should be easy for me too.I give these pickups a four-star rating for two reasons. Reason number one: the installation instructions were fairly vague and incomplete and assumed that the person installing the pickups had probably done something like this before. For example, I'm used to IKEA-like instructions that tell me where every nut, bolt, screw, washer and spring are supposed to go. I had to make a lot of assumptions based on the way things looked when I disassembled the existing pickups. Thankfully, I had taken pictures as I went so that I could put things back to the original had things gone bad. In the end, I only had to circle back once to get everything where it belonged. Maybe this is my fault, but there were a few little things that I wasn't too sure of.The second reason that I deduct a star is not even EMG's fault. I had to do some minor carpentry on my guitar to get everything to fit. The channels connecting all of the pickup and switch compartments weren't big enough for the plus on the ends of the wires to fit through. These had to be enlarged with a drill, and at a very awkward angle. Also, the battery did not fit underneath the switch plate assembly, so I had to chisel out a bit of the wood to get it to fit in properly. All in all, the installation was not nearly as easy as I thought it would be - I'm willing to take my share of the blame here - and it cost the EMGs one star. There's a better than good chance that your installation process will goo much more smoothly than mine did!The other four stars are much-deserved. I love the way my new pickups sound. The neck pickup is full and mellow and clean. The bridge pickup is gritty and twangy and has a really nice bite to it. It was just the boost I was looking for.I highly recommend the EMG T replacement pickups. I have an old handmade telecaster copy that I bought at a garage sale for $5. I'm thinking about buying another set of EMG T pickups to put in that.

Perfectly quiet! Wow

If you have ever imagined a perfectly quiet telecaster. Then buy these pick ups. It took me 12 minutes to install them! The battery has lasted me 10 months without replacement.
