How to Draw 101 Horses & Ponies (5) Paperback – June 1, 2008

Not only do my grandchildren like it but my mother enjoys it. Mom is a stroke patient and loves to color. Thought I would let her try to hand at drawing. Nailed it. Drew a half dozen critters in no time.

These are not simple step-by-step directions. The book serves as more of a guide, showing what the sketches look like at various stages, including the finished product. My 5th grade students seem to be enjoying it, but it is probably not designed for kids who are not motivated to put some effort in, or who are too young or uncoordinated to put effort in. I do think it is a valuable product for the right audience.

I ordered books for my twin granddaughters. They are both so different, one loves monkeys and so I got her a book on how to draw pets which included monkeys. The other one is GA-GA over horses, and this book is showing her how to draw them even better. She has a smile on her face when she sees what a good job she is doing drawing horses better now. Thanks to this book and easy instructions.

This item was selected for a granddaughter and given as a gift during the holidays. She seems to love to color the drawings as well as learning how to draw. To my surprise her aunt, an elementary school teacher, likes it even more and wants to make copies of some of the pages before they are colored. I told her where they were purchased and for how much.

Bought this for my grandkids who likes to draw. I homeschool them and we use this in art class sometimes to aid them in drawing fun animals. They love it. It's simple and easy to use instructions are great for kids of all ages.

This is a great starter book to teach anyone how to draw horses. The girls LOVED it and haven't stopped using it since we gave it to them. You can also trace the images out of the book.

Very nice but very detailed. Be sure your child has the patience to keep trying. My 8 yr old daughter gets a bit frustrated with it but I think the instructions are very good.

Positives: this book has a lot of different kinds of horses in lots of positions which work as inspiration for children.Negatives: this book does not effectively help children draw horses and ponies better. All it does is give them an outline to copy, there is no real drawing technique given. The best "How to draw" books reduce the image into basic shapes - circles, triangles etc - that help the child build up the drawing. This book doesn't have that kind of step by step instruction. You might as well tell them to trace the final result.

My 2 children have quite a lot of these 101 draw books and this pony one was bought for my daughter since she has become pony mad. I would say some of the drawings are slightly more difficult than some of the other books but it's a hit all the same.

A good fun item that everyone can enjoy, children and grown ups alike. Would also make a very good gift. My children loved it.
