Nice color, lots of pigmentation, blends well

I wasn't expecting much due to Folk Art's price, but wanted to try this out. I was VERY surprised at the gorgeous finish this provided on several props and will definitely by rethinking my bias on this brand!

I love color-shifting things, and I wanted this for a very damaged vintage train case I got from my local free group. I painted it blue and added this on top... absolutely gorgeous. Couldn't love it more. I actually ordered a second one the second the first ran out.

I used this with my neon paints to add sparkle to dragon fly wings and also to add a glimmer to white sheer curtains. I am thinking of using this and some of the other colors more often. I am wondering what else folk art offers as far as paints.....I can't wait to try it on my Holiday Art. I added a few paintings that had little small touches of the dragon fly glaze...it won't show up like a glitter it just adds a slight glimmer over dark colors. I like to use it on butterflies....or a glimmer to my waterfalls. So this is wonderful stuff but it is subtle.....which is prefect for me.....

There is a LOT of blue in this glaze. I was hoping for more purple to show up. You can see a little purple along the edges in the 2nd pic, and in the angled pic, but head on, there's too much blue for what I want.And yes, that's what it is, a glaze, this is not a paint. It definitely looks better on a dark surface. I put it on black switch plates. I was using a piece of white paper underneath, and you could hardly see it.I ended up peeling it off and will use something else. Other than that, it's a decent product. Goes on relatively well. You do need to wait for more than one coat (mine is 3), but you don't really need to wait the 2 hrs they recommend.

Thanks to the previous reviewers, I knew a little about what to expect...that the glitter is colored according to the bottle name, but the paint behind it is clear, so you need to paint a background color first if you want one.I thought color shift meant when you turned it in the light, its color would change depending on how the light hits it. That's not the case. This is more like a Folk Art glitter whose color you don't really control. I've uploaded a color chart where I have painted several different kinds of acryllic paint and put Dragon Fly glaze and different glitters over them (and painted the glitters by themselves). (Folk Art Hologram Extreme Glitter is a greenish color glitter mixed with a little white. The white is more like a shiny pearlescent background than a glitter, but it's a transparent white.) DF on the chart stands for this product, Folk Art's Dragonfly Glaze (red-violet-blue shift). Its color is more just dependent on the background color it's painted on. It has a bit of a transparent pearlescent background too, almost white but picking up a tint of whatever color it picks up on the background. DF glitter and Hologram may be a tiny bit finer grained glitter than their silver, red, or turqoise, but that may be an optical illusion.The other picture is the DF glaze on black construction paper. That brings out a color better, but again, I don't see a color shift. The color in the picture isn't quite true. It's more of a royal blue on the black construction paper.Maybe I need to get it outside in full sunlight to see a color shift? Sun by the window didn't do the trick. Maybe it depends on the smoothness of the surface you're glazing? Or maybe they just meant it changes color depending on the paint background and I didn't read the description carefully enough.Also, I 've seen no red in this glaze so far.

I’ve had this ceramic cat for a few years. Wasn’t sure what I was going to do with the untouched kitty. Then I found the blue acrylic paint on Amazon.ca. Finally, after three thin coats, it was ready to seal with clear spray paint. Voila, space alien cat! She’ll be a beautiful addition to my ornamental cat collection. Just glazed it a few minutes ago, one I got a warm enough and windless day to get the job done. The uses for this sparkling paint are endless. Five stars across the board!
