A great modular holster system.

This holster is great. It includes an already attached paddle, and an accessory belt loop. For the paddle option, the hook attached to the backside of the holster catches on the outside bottom of your belt while the wide, curved paddle, inside the waistband, comfortably spreads out the force against your hip across its surface, so as not to dig into any particular spot. A belt loop is also included to be used with just about any 1.5" to 1.75" belt. You simply remove the screws fastening the paddle and hook from the backside of the holster, and use the additional supplied screws to fasten the belt loop in the desired draw position, straight or canted. While this will conceal decently under a jacket, or such, there are better concealment holster options. I ordered this holster specifically for use with a battle belt set up. Using the MLS 15 attachment, it will thread directly into the PALS slots (or MOLLE, as it is commonly, but incorrectly called.) You can also attach the holster directly to the 6004-8 Small MOLLE Adapter Plate, which will then thread into the PALS on the belt or vest. The 6004-8 can also use the QLS (quick locking system.) You can also use the QLS with other appropriate accessory low, mid, or high ride belt loop, designed to fit a wider, duty-style belt. The ALS (automatic locking system) is considered level 1 retention. Your thumb naturally sits on the lever when drawing, and a downward press releases the internal lock. If you want level 2 retention, you can always add the 6006 ALS guard, which requires the guard be rotated rearward, away from the ALS level, which is them actuated as usual. Other options are the 6007 Hood or 6008 Hood and ALS guard which not only adds the aforementioned lever, but a hood which shields the guard from being actuated from the front. These options are really only applicable if you want to prevent somebody else from trying to access your firearm from its holster, though. All in all, I think the Safariland system is great for someone who wants a modular and durable holster that will stand up to any and all weather conditions.

Fantastic, secure holster

I'm using this holster for my hunting trips. I like it because it's more secure than a level 0 retention holster without worrying about it being ripped out when you're making your way between rocks. It's secure without being tight against the gun. In other words, it offers better retention without having to be cinched down super tight. This holster is everything you'd expect from Safariland with respect to build quality and durability. I don't have anything to say about that. The retention device is intuitive and easily deactivated by your thumb on the draw. Like many of you considering this particular holster, I too was alarmed by traditional trigger finger paddle retention devices after watching the well-circulated video of the gentleman who "Just shot himself" because his trigger finger followed the contour of the holster right into the trigger guard to fire the pistol into his leg. It's for this reason that the aforementioned holster style is forbidden at shooting ranges, at least it is at my local indoor range. That concern is largely mitigated with this style.I would recommend this holster for anyone in security (weapon retention) and anyone who exercises their second amendment rights by carrying openly.

Good holster for OWB carry when you don't need full duty gear

I compared this holster and the Blackhawk Serpa side by side to choose which I wanted to use while on the range or when not in uniform but in a unit. I chose the 7378.The holster has a good feel for the draw and the ALS retention comes natural. I also liked how the ALS retention is not in view of anyone else around you. One concern I had was that a shirt tail might hinder the release. This did not create a problem, as the dexterity of the ALS lever is good enough were you can release the gun with your shirt on top of the release itself. So if you are in a hurry and you shirt gets in the way, the gun still comes out smooth and you can just pull the gun and the shirt up with you into a shooting position and shoot quickly or deal with the shirt. The paddle was also important to me in holster choice and Safariland has a good paddle. The size is right and it contours to your hip shape better than the Serpa. Best of all, the locking hook for the paddle is outside the pants, not inside the waistband, so you can pull the paddle out and remove the holster without taking off your pants. Now don't get me wrong, it still takes some work to remove, but the Serpa is impossible to remove.Lastly, the shape of the holster is different than the Serpa. It is larger in surface area when looking at it from the side. However, I don't find that having the smaller physical size is actually an advantage. The Serpa has the lowest height of any holster I have seen and Blackhawk likes to say that it makes the gun rotate faster out of the draw. From that low on the hip, my wrist can't even turn enough to level the gun from the lower level the Serpa holster allows the gun to clear the holster vertically. So all in all, the height difference is a mute feature. The width of the 7378 is a little wider than the Serpa, but that's not because the overall width of the holster is wider. It is because the Serpa holster follows the contours of the gun, where the 7378 makes the gun's shape into a rounded off square at the bottom. So there is really no difference, and the square shape of the 7378 makes the holster look like a big phone, rather than the shape of a pistol. In conclusion, I picked the Safariland holster over the Blackhawk. However, I think it is important to mention that neither of these holsters are a good concealment holster. If your shirt is covering it, the bulge still shows up. So use this as a second holster when you don't need full duty gear.

Not a quick draw

Well , the holster fits nice on my belt and comes off nicely - no struggling to get it off , I really like that!. However once I put the pistol in (92 baretta) - I have difficulty getting the pistol out ! Not happy with that ! Maybe it will break in with some use . Both my barettas fit in nicely the 92 and the brigadier 92fs . I just have a very hard time getting them out .🙁 if it breaks in later on after use , I will return and give another star .
